Earlier today I had the chance to meet a new angel investor that just moved to Atlanta. After doing 10+ deals in his previous city, he’s looking to get involved here. While the tech startup scene is small, it’s fast-growing with big ambitions and there are a number of ways to plug in.
Here are four quick starting points for new angel investors in Atlanta:
- Atlanta Technology Angels – The largest and most active angel group in Atlanta.
- Venture Atlanta – The largest annual event in Atlanta for angels and VCs from across the country, hosted at the Georgia Aquarium every October.
- Atlanta Startup Village – The largest monthly gathering of entrepreneurs in the Southeast with 500+ people meeting on the last Monday of every month at the Atlanta Tech Village.
- Startup Chowdown – The largest weekly gathering of entrepreneurs in the Southeast with 250+ people meeting every Friday at noon at the Atlanta Tech Village.
Angel investing, by and large, is a word-of-mouth endeavor. With these organized groups, networking events, and AngelList, there are plenty of opportunities to invest in startups.
What else? What are some other ways for new angel investors to get connected in Atlanta?
David, great info! There’s also the recently formed Bio/Med Investor Network for Life Sciences startups. More information can be found here: http://www.biomedinvestors.com.
